Starfires advance with win over North Miami

DENVER – A pair of big special teams plays early helped South Adams to a 14-0 lead on North Miami, and a late touchdown pass from Dustin Wanner to Nick Batt put the Starfires over the top as they beat the host Warriors 20-14 Friday night in varsity football to advance into the second round of Class A Sectional 35.
Justin Wygant put the Starfires (5-5) into great position on the opening kickoff, returning the ball 46 yards to the Warrior 35. It took South Adams eight plays to gobble up the remaining 35 yards as they took a 7-0 lead on a one-yard run by Wanner.
