Starfires claim first sectional title
With four runners finishing in the top 11 spots and the fifth just a spot out of the top 15, South Adams cruised to its first ever sectional championship in boys cross country Tuesday night in Decatur.
The Starfires scored 41 points; besting second place Fort Wayne South Side by 33 points to win the Bellmont Sectional crown. Wayne (110 points), Norwell (120 points) and Canterbury (122 points) claimed the final regional qualifying spots. The top five teams and top 15 individuals advance from Bellmont to the Marion Regional Saturday at Indiana Wesleyan University.
Adams Central took eighth in the boys’ meet with 165 points.
