Starfires claim sectional title
WABASH – To say they have a flair for the dramatic would be as massive an understatement that has ever been uttered through human lips.
One week after snatching a late come-from-behind win over rival Adams Central, South Adams went overtime with Southwood, got a huge block on a point-after kick by Skylar Schoch and then a touchdown and point-after kick by Derek Wanner to secure a 40-39 victory to claim the Class A Sectional 43 championship Friday night.
It marked the first football sectional title for South Adams since 1996, ending a 17-year drought for the Starfires. South Adams had played in three previous sectional finals since 1996, all of them ending in defeat.
