UNION CITY – Marcus Rich scored three first half touchdowns as South Adams worked to stay in front of Union City, and Dustin Wanner was in on three more in the second half as the Starfires beat the host Indians 40-26 in the semi-final round of Class A Sectional 36 Friday night.
South Adams (10-1) advances into a highly anticipated sectional championship game with Sheridan (8-3). The Blackhawks beat Lapel 48-16 Friday night, making Coach Bud Wright the all-time wins leader in state history with 369.
Union City checks out at 9-2.
South Adams fumbled its opening kickoff and Union City made it pay by scoring six plays later on a 3-yard run by Duran Bocanegra.
