Starfires fall in wet one
Just about the time South Adams got its offense working the rain started pouring and it wound up coming away from its home varsity baseball game with Blackford 8-1 losers Monday night.
Blackford opened a 5-0 lead in the top of the second inning as it chased Starfire starter Andrew Smith, who allowed just one hit in his inning and two-thirds. Smith was undone by five walks and two hit batters. The Starfires also committed four errors in the contest.
Tyler Burnfield pitched two and a third innings in relief, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out four. Nick Batt gave up one run on one hit and three walks in an inning of relief.
