Starfires off to record start
South Adams matched its best start ever in varsity girls’ basketball with a pair of wins this past weekend. The Starfires beat Eastbrook 55-53 in double overtime Friday night, and followed that with a 42-34 win over Union City to move their record to 3-0. The last time South Adams opened a varsity girls’ season 3-0 was 1998-99.
The Starfires will travel to Bluffton this Friday, looking for their first 4-0 start ever. The Tigers are 1-3, having lost their last two in a row.
South Adams trailed at the first three stops Friday night at Eastbrook, but rallied back with a 15-9 fourth quarter run to force extra time. The game was knotted 49-49 after one overtime.
