Starfires open season with win over Garrett
Gabe Schwartz got baptized by fire in the first varsity wrestling match of his high school career Thursday night, and the freshman 170-pounder galvanized the crowd with a pin in 2:43 over Garrett’s Koty Reinoehl that sealed a 42-31 win for South Adams.
“That’s a pretty big first win, your first varsity win wins a match for us, pretty exciting there,” said South Adams coach Eric Myers.
“I thought our guys look fairly well,” Myers added. “We’re young and it showed at times, but we’re just going to continue to get better, I hope.”
