Starfires pound New Haven for 19 hits
Junior Alexis Ford drove in five runs, four of them in the first two innings and fueled South Adams in its 14-5 win over New Haven in varsity softball action Thursday evening in Berne. Ford finished with two hits – South Adams (3-3) had 19 total.
Lyndsey Chandler finished 4-for-4 with three runs scored. Alyssa Bluhm had a doubles, a triple, two singles and four RBI, and Brianna Nevil added a double and three RBI. Lily Taing had three hits and one RBI, Alaina Johnston also had two hits.
Despite the offensive outburst, South Adams coach Jessie O’Dell tempered his enthusiasm because of a few early miscues.
