Starfires prevail in double overtime
This one looked like a season opener, but the celebration at the end of the game led one to believe that it was more than that for first-year coach Rick Burkhalter’s South Adams Starfires.
South Adams (1-0) saw an early lead evaporate in the fourth quarter, but scored on both of its overtime possessions and held Winchester’s strong rushing attack out of the end zone on its second overtime possession to post a 24-18 victory.
