Starfires pummel field at Cambridge City
South Adams scored a pair of lopsided victories in the three-team Eastern Indiana Invitational varsity baseball tournament Saturday, thumping Tri High 20-2 in its first game and host Cambridge City Lincoln 13-1. The Starfires (5-3) slugged 13 hits in the win over Tri, six of them going for extra bases. Gabe Sprunger hit a double and grand slam to lead the offense, Dustin Wanner doubled and tripled, Taylor LeFever homered, and Caleb Sprunger doubled.
South Adams led Tri 4-1 after one inning and scored 13 runs in the top of the second.
Wanner (3-0) collected the victory, throwing a complete game three-hitter. He struck out seven, walked three and allowed two earned runs.
