Starfires score team victory at Troy
South Adams scored a pair of individual champions, placed 12 of its 15 wrestlers in the top six of their respective weight classes and won the team championship in its first trip to the Troy (Ohio) Invitational Saturday.
South Adams finished with 231 points, 27 better than second place St. Xavier. No other team in the field finished over the 200-point plateau.
South Adamsâ€™ Todd Batt stormed through the 17-team field with ease, winning his first four matches by fall. He scored a second period pin in the first round at 132 pounds, pinned Bellefontaineâ€™s Jacob Houchin in round two in 2:28, and Troyâ€™s Ryan Simon in 1:57 in round three.
