It should have provided a lift, but it stood more as a metaphor of the numerous things that have gone against South Adams through its first four varsity football games this season.
The Starfire defense had stood firm after the offense coughed up a fumble a few blades of grass shy of the end zone, and Heritage had to line up for a punt with their kicker pinned about as deep on a field as one can get. Cody Conner was able to break through and block the punt, and the ball bounced around the end zone begging for a South Adams touchdown.
