Starfires stopped shy of sectional title

Unable to contain Churubusco in the second half of its sectional championship game Friday night, South Adams came up 24 minutes short in its quest for its first sectional title since 1996, falling to the visiting Eagles 43-21 in the final game of Class A Sectional 35 at Starfire Field.
South Adams (6-6) jumped out to double-digit leads twice in the first half, scoring the first two touchdowns of the game on runs by Taylor LeFever and Marcus Rich.
After giving up a 60-yard scoring run to Churubusco’s Josh LeFever, the Starfires went back up by 13 (21-8) on a 19-yard pass play between Dustin Wanner and LeFever.
That’s when Churubusco figured things out.
