South Adams held Bellmont to one point over the final 2:41 of its varsity boys’ basketball game Tuesday night at the Stardome and broke a four-game losing streak with a 57-54 victory over the Braves.
The Starfires did not make a single field goal over the final 4:20, but a parade to the free throw line provided more than enough offense to put away the Braves.
South Adams (3-5) fired up 36 free throws total, and made twice as many (28) as Bellmont took (14). Bellmont finished 10-of-14 at the foul line.
“I’m sure that will be talked about, but it seems like more of the fouls we picked up were shooting fouls,” South Adams coach Ryan Biegel stated. ...
