Starfires surprise Bellmont, 57-54
South Adams held Bellmont to one point over the final 2:41 of its varsity boysâ€™ basketball game Tuesday night at the Stardome and broke a four-game losing streak with a 57-54 victory over the Braves.
The Starfires did not make a single field goal over the final 4:20, but a parade to the free throw line provided more than enough offense to put away the Braves.
South Adams (3-5) fired up 36 free throws total, and made twice as many (28) as Bellmont took (14). Bellmont finished 10-of-14 at the foul line.
