Starfires win first title at own invitational
Led by the 1-2 punch of Derek Fox and Cal Clouser, South Adams won its own golf invitational for the first time in the 21-year history of the event.
The Starfires finished in 341 strokes, well ahead of second place Bluffton at 377. Norwell took third with a 401. The event was originally scheduled for April 20, but was rescheduled due to rain.
Fox and Clouser tied for low score in the 18-hole event Saturday with 80s. Fox wound up winning medalist honors by beating his teammate in a playoff.
Chase Mosser shot an 86 and just missed giving the Starfires a third top five scorer. McGerran Clouser shot 95 for South Adams and Brad Green finished with a 97.
