Starfires win wild softball game with Raiders

South Adams outlasted Southern Wells, outscoring the host Raiders 7-1 over the final three innings and posted its first varsity softball win of the season Monday night with a 17-11 victory.
The contest included 28 hits (18 by South Adams) and 12 errors (eight by South Adams).
“In ten years of coaching softball, this might have been the sloppiest game I have witnessed,” South Adams coach Jessie O’Dell commented. “There were many opportunities for our kids to make plays and we made many mistakes and errors, but we made enough plays to win. I thought our kids did a good job of fighting through all of the mistakes and pulling out the victory.”
