Strong third lifts Starfires out of slump
South Adams closed the third quarter with a 9-0 run, breaking up a close game and rode that hot streak to a 57-42 varsity boys basketball victory over Parkway Tuesday evening at the Stardome.
The win snaps a four-game losing streak for the Starfires and lifts their season record to 3-4. Parkway slips to 0-6.
Parkway had tied the game at 27 early in the second half, but a Scott Hoeppner 3-pointer gave South Adams a lead it would never relinquish. Dustin Wanner added a free throw and Matt Alig followed with a 15-footer from the key to raise the Starfiresâ€™ lead to 33-27 before Riley Bransteter scored for Parkway.
