Tigers topple Luers in final

The Bluffton Tigers opened a 20-point first half lead, weathered a strong rally, and upset Bishop Luers in the championship game of the South Adams Class 2A boys’ basketball sectional Monday night 80-68.
Bluffton (16-6) took a 23-13 lead after one quarter and led 45-25 at the half. Luers (17-5) cut that lead in half in the third quarter and got within two points with 5:33 left in the contest. Bluffton finished with a 17-7 run to pull the stunner.
Bluffton shot 44 free throws in the contest and made 30 of them. Luers was 8-of-16 at the foul line. There were 48 fouls called in the game – 32 of them against Luers. The Knights saw their two leading scorers, James Bla...
