WINCHESTER – You’ll have the pardon the tales emanating from the Winchester Fieldhouse Tuesday night, for there is more than a bit of truth to them. You see, South Adams put up a whale of a fight, but let a mighty big one get away.
The Starfires led tenth-ranked (2A) Winchester by three points with 2:37 left in the third quarter, but a slew of turnovers saw the Golden Falcons turn things around as they outscored the Starfires 8-0 to finish the period and went on to post a 72-51 victory, their fifth straight over South Adams, in varsity boys’ basketball.
