Woodlan ends Starfires season
BLUFFTON – Woodlan proved its 3-point prowess was no fluke, using the long-range shot to power past South Adams 55-39 in the opening round of the Bluffton Class 2A girls basketball sectional Tuesday night.
Woodlan, which scored nine 3-pointers in a 58-55 win over the Starfires last Saturday, used a couple of triples from Brooke Gerbers to pull away early, and got a few more late in the third quarter as the Warriors built a lead the Starfires simply could not match.
“We did not cover their shooters up like we had to,” said South Adams coach Brett Freeman. “You give those girls wide open looks and they’re going to knock them down.”
