When Berne’s Brittani Sprunger opted nursing as a career, she never dreamed that some day that choice would be a lifeline to her mother’s health and her family’s spiritual and emotional help.
Sprunger, the daughter of Jay and Patti Sprunger, knew that all was not well when she answered a cell phone call from her mother at 1:19 a.m. on Dec. 4, 2009. Sprunger, at home with her parents, knew immediately what was going on when she heard her mother’s cry for help.
Earlier in the evening, as the family attended a wrestling meet in Garrett, Patti Sprunger had complained of a severe headache, but she had taken a pain pill and written it off as stress.
