Burgess has climbed 353 water towers over 30 years

Jerry Burgess climbs the current Berne water tower under construction each morning when he goes to work. It is the 353rd water tower that he has climbed on a consistent basis in a career that spans over 30 years as water tower field supervisor. Burgess, who lives in Kentucky, is in charge of the construction of the new water tower in Berne which is being built by Phoenix Fabricators and Erectors.
"I love it; everyone is different, I love the friends I make everywhere and anywhere," said Burgess of his work with the water towers. "I enjoy the work. Not just anyone can do this; there's a lot of pride that goes into this. I love doing this."
