SA hosts Adams County Spelling Bee
Ten Adams County students competed on Tuesday night in the South Adams auditorium to be named the Adams County Spelling Bee Champion. They are (pictured left to right – front) Natalie Dickie, Zoe Egly, Hannah Rhoades, Lydia Roop, and Jadon Evans; (back) Ashley Rhoades, Saige Jauregui, Zachary Pettibone, Evan Birch, and Madison Neher. There were four fifth graders, one sixth grader, one seventh grader, and four eighth graders. They represented Adams Central Elementary School, Adams Central Middle School, Bellmont Middle School, St. Joseph Elementary School, St. Joseph Middle School, St. Peter Immanuel Lutheran School, South Adams Elementary School, South Adams Middle School, Wyneken Memorial Lutheran Middle School, and Zion Lutheran School.
Jadon Evans was named the Adams County Spelling Bee Champion. Evans is the son of Mark and Beth Evans of Decatur. He is an eighth grader at Adams Central Middle School. He defeated runner-up Ashley Rhoades by correctly spelling the word cooperate. Rhoades is the daughter of Bob and Cindy Rhoades of Geneva. She is an eighth grader at South Adams Middle School. Evans will go on to compete in the Regional Spelling Bee in March held on the IPFW campus in Fort Wayne.
