Carol Dailey

Carol Jane Dailey, 86, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Ossian Health and Rehabilitation. She was born March 10, 1938, in Geneva to Robert “Ted” and Luella (Fink) Everhart. She was married May 15, 1954, to Donald E. Dailey, the love of her life. They shared many wonderful years together until his death on Jan. 7, 2005.
She lived most of her life in Adams County. She and her husband, with the assistance of family, built their first home together outside Geneva. They then purchased a small farm “on a one-mile road in the middle of nowhere” close to the Ohio line. Afterward, they moved to Linn Grove and later to Berne. Several years after his death, she relocated to Bluffton to be closer to family.
She worked for many years at Economy Printing and House of White Birches in Berne.
She will be remembered by her family and friends as a wonderful cook. She especially loved making (and eating) pies, with sugar cream and pecan being specialties. She was featured in a magazine once as the “cook of the month.” Hosting family gatherings gave her a lot of joy and satisfaction. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed reading the newspaper daily.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Susan Dailey; son, Don (Carol) Dailey; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Todd) McCullough; Jerod (Rebecca) Dailey; Jessica (Brent) Bush; Jackelyn Sciscoe; Justin (Alicia) Dailey; Stefanie (Derrick) Kipfer; Ben (Jackie) Dailey; and Kevin (Audrey) Dailey; 13 great-grandchildren, Jevalyn (Tom Welling) McCullough; YuLeeza (Jon) Kohne; Karthon (Hayley) McCullough; Sofie, Lucas and William Kipfer; Caleb, Lydia and Naomi Dailey; Cora and Eliza Dailey; Keaton Bush; and Madeline Dailey; and nine great-great-grandchildren and one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Douglas L. Dailey; two sisters, Helen Dock; and Barbara “Joy” Earhart; and a brother, Robert Everhart.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 26 from 5-8 p.m. and Wednesday, March 27 for one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Yager-Kirchhofer Chapel in Berne. Officiating will be Pastor John McCullough. Burial will be at Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Bluffton.
