Myrtle Doherty

Myrtle Marcella Doherty, 89, of Geneva passed away Monday, March 25, 2024, at 7:49 a.m. at Adams Woodcrest Nursing Center in Decatur. She was born Thursday, May 17, 1934, in Adams County to Ivan E. and Wilma M. (Roe) Hough. She was married Saturday, Jan. 3, 1953, in Richmond to Kenneth Alvin Doherty.
She was a 1952 graduate of Bryant High School. She formerly attended High Street United Methodist Church in Geneva. She had worked at Graber Egg Processing in Berne and G.E. in Decatur. She was a lifetime member of the Geneva Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Association. She enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens.
She will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Penny (Mike) Hirschy of Decatur; and Lois (Phil) DeBolt of Roanoke; two grandsons, Nathan (Kelsi) Hirschy of Fortville; and Matthew (Taren) DeBolt of Friant, California; two granddaughters, Melissa (Kevin) Dickman of Convoy, Ohio; and Michelle (William) Bostain of Middlebury; seven great-granddaughters, Macie Dickman, Myla Dickman and Maren Dickman of Convoy, Ohio; Madeline Hirschy and Mackenzie Hirschy of Fortville; and Elena Bostain and Rylie Bostain of Middlebury; and four great-grandsons, McCormick Hirschy of Fortville; Konnor Dickman of Convoy, Ohio; Sonny DeBolt; and Vaughn DeBolt of Friant, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Charles, Carl and Fred Hough; and five sisters, Betty Huey; Shirley ‘Ene’ Mann; Rosie Davis; Donna Hough; and Margaret Davis.
Visitation will be Friday, March 29 from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday, March 30 for one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service to celebrate her life at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva. Burial will be at Backesto Cemetery in Berne.
