Barbara E. Calhoon

Barbara Elizabeth Calhoon, 91, passed away on April 22, 2013 in Prescott, Arizona. She was born on June 22, 1921 in Adams County to Joel and Ida Stucky.
She enjoyed growing up on a farm and going to a one room eight grade elementary school. She graduated from Geneva High School in 1939 and went directly into St. Joseph's Nursing School in Fort Wayne, graduating in 1942. In October 1943, she joined the Army Nurses Corp as a first Lieutenant. She was sent to the Mariana Islands in August 1945 where she met her future husband, Glen. She was separated from the service in December 1946. She and Glen went their separate ways but kept in touch and were married in Los Angeles in 1948. They settled in Florida where their only child Todd was born in Coral Gables.
After a vacation in the Rocky Mountains, they decided to move West and settled in Prescott in 1964. Enjoying their surroundings, they bought property on Miller Valley Road and started the business, which became the Attic Hogan. Their son joined the business in 1972. She continued her nursing career at the Prescott Veterans Administration Hospital, retiring in 1981. After Glen passed away in 1991, Todd continued the business until his death in September 2012.
Having survived all her siblings, she is survived by her daughter-in-law, Pam; grandsons, Brett and Devin; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held according to her wishes.
