Betty J. Lengerich, 72, of Monroe died on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur. She was born on April 25, 1940 in Adams County to Robert J. and H. Wanda (Reidenbach) Baker. She was married on January 10, 1960 to Frederick A. Lengerich.
She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, the Women of St. Mary’s, a former member of the St. Mary’s choir and Sunday school teacher for 10 years. She was self-employed with Lengerich Meats and Decorating Den. In her retirement, she spent her time loving her grandchildren and following their activities.
She is survived by her husband of Monroe; three sons, Mark F. Lengerich of Fort Wayne; Sam J. (Natalie J.) Lengerich of Monroe; and Luke D. (Nicole R.) Lengerich of Goshen; two daughters, Laura A. (Randy J.) Lewis of Decatur; and Amy M. (Phil W.) McDonald of Berne; brother, Ronald L. (Judy) Baker of Columbia City; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Patricia A. Baker.
Visitation will be from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 28 at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home with reciting of the Holy Rosary at 5:00 p.m. and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 29 at St. Mary’s Parish Hall followed by an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Officiating will be Father David Voors. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Vincent DePaul and Adams Central School Choir Department.
