Dwight L. "Whitey" Dailey, 81, of Geneva passed away on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Visiting Nurse Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. He was born on January 1, 1932 in Adams County to Herbert and Eathel (Evans) Dailey. He was married on August 18, 1973 to Carol Heeter.
He was an employee of Dunbar Furniture and later retired from McIntosh Corp with 28 years of service. He was a decorated veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the US Army. He received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. His special interests were enjoying the outdoors, in particular gardening and landscaping, dart throwing, and vacationing in Florida.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Randy (Theresa) Dailey of Fort Wayne; Michael (Becky) Dailey of Goshen; and Scott (Jill) Dailey of Amelia, Ohio; step-daughter, Carol Lynne (Nicholas) Arthur of Pendleton; step-son, William (Brenda) Stolz of Pennville; two sisters, Esther (Harold) Young of Bryant; and Marcella (Ben) Sipe of Geneva; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; Orville, Donald, and Lloyd Dailey; and six sisters, Edna Hunt; Mamie Bauer; Betty Pugh; Treva Yost; Deloris Sprunger; and Naomi Rigby.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 11 and one hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, March 12 at the Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne. Officiating will be Pastor Chris Kruchkow. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Geneva.
Military rites will be provided by Berne Post #468.
