Fredrick D. Glessner

Fredrick D. Glessner, 76, of Portland passed away on Monday, September 30, 2013 at his residence. He was born on October 15, 1936 in Portland to Haskell and Georgia (Shoemaker) Glessner. He was married on December 8, 1962 to Judith C. Bailey.
He served with the U.S. Airforce and was a member of Harrisville Congregational Church. He retired from United and Sprint Telephone Companies.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Alden Glessner of Portland; and Fredrick D. Glessner, Jr. of Geneva; four daughters, Edwina Sue Gorzen of Jackson, Michigan; Robbi Forslund of Spring Lake, Michigan; Roxana Mortimer of Lowmansville, Kentucky; and Susan Knepper of Plymouth; brother, Sam Glessner of Portland; 17 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Stephen Glessner; and William R. Tyson.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2 at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 3 at the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Coleman Smith. Burial will be at Center Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Shrine Children’s Hospital.
