Thelma Lee Flueckiger, 86, of Berne, died on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Swiss Village in Berne. She was born June 5, 1926 in Jeffersonville to Marion and Jocie (Boyd) Boyd. She married Jerome Flueckiger on May 15, 1948.
She graduated from St. Joseph Infirmary in Louisville, Kentucky with a RN degree. Upon moving to Adams County, she was a nurse at Jay County Hospital, Portland and Caylor-Nickel Hospital, Bluffton for many years. She was a member of the First Mennonite Church where she sang in the chancel choir and was a member of Stephen’s Ministry. She enjoyed crafts, loved animals and made many afghans.
Her husband, and many nieces and nephews survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Frank and David Boyd.
Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, October 14 and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service on Monday, October 15 at Swiss Village Chapel. Officiating is Pastor Jerry Flueckiger. Burial is in the Westlawn Cemetery in Geneva. Preferred memorials are to Swiss Village Samaritan Fund.
