Verna L. Sprunger
Verna L. Sprunger, 89, of Berne passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur. She was born on June 7, 1924 in Adams County to Harvey and Emma (Habegger) Nussbaum. She was married on June 11, 1944 to David Sprunger.
She was a member of the First Mennonite Church, where she was a member of the kitchen committee and co-chairman of the assistance committee. She was employed at South Adams Schools as a cafeteria cook and also an inspector at Berco Co. She enjoyed quilting and needlework.
She is survived by four daughters, Ruth (Von) Bixler of Decatur; Judith (Terry) Fralick of Convoy, Ohio; and Twyla and Jean Sprunger, both of Berne; son, Rick (Sue) Sprunger of Berne; sister, Emma Jane (Rev. Roger) Bixler of Berne; seven grandchildren, Bobbie (Robert) Reichhart; Loree Sprunger; Kristine (Phil) Kunes; Amanda (Andrew) Caffee; Nathan Sprunger; and Tim and Jon Fralick; and two great-grandchildren, Parker and Drew Reichhart.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Wayne Sprunger; and brother, Truman Nussbaum.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 21 at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, April 22 at the First Mennonite Church Chapel in Berne. Officiating will be Pastor Jeff Linthicum and Pastor Roger Bixler. Burial will be at MRE Cemetery in Berne.
